After breakfast, we will head to the Gyeongbokgung Palace, which is known as the Forbidden City of South Korea. With a history of more than 600 years, Gyeongbokgung Palace is the location of many popular Korean dramas. Following, we will visit Cheonggyecheon Stream. This is an ideal place for people to feel the true culture, get close to nature, and to observe and learn about the ecology. Next, we will go to Gwanghwamun Square, the center of citizens' rest and entertainment, for sightseeing. After that, we will head to Bukchon Hanok Village. There are many traditional Korean houses. Then follow us to go to the Hongik University Street, which is loved by young people. Finally we will go to the famous Dongdaemun Market.
Gyeongbokgung Palace, located north of Gwanghwamun Square, is one of the most iconic sightseeing places to discover in all of South Korea due to its long and valued history. Construction on the Gyeongbokgung Palace was completed in 1395 at the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty during the reign of King Taejo. Gyeongbokgung, which means “palace greatly blessed by Heaven,” was built in the heart of Seoul surrounded by Mount Bugaksan and Mount Namsan.
Cheonggyecheon Stream is an 8.4-kilometer (5.2 mile) waterway and public space that runs from west to east through the heart of downtown Seoul. During the Joseon Dynasty, the stream was known as Gaecheon, meaning an open stream.
Gwanghwamun Square is located in the center of Seoul. The square not only displays the history of South Korea in various forms, but it is also home to various facilities symbolizing Seoul. The square stands at the statue of General Li Shunchen completed in 1968 and the newly created bronze statue of Emperor Shizong. To commemorate Li Shunchen's victory in the 23rd World War against Japan in the sea with 12 navy ships, the Square has built 100 spray basins, which are truly quite magnificent.
Bukchon Hanok Village
With a history of 600 years, Bukchon Hanok Village is a traditional residential area in Seoul. This village is famous for its eight sceneries, and the houses have been preserved so well. In addition to the traditional Korean houses, restaurants, clothing shops, traditional manual workshop and other fixed forms, there are also coffee shops, western restaurants, painting galleries and other modern buildings to explore. Bukchon Hanok Village is also a famous shooting place of many Korean dramas films such as the Winter Love Song, Gentleman's Character and She's Beautiful.
Hongik University Street
The area in front of Hongik University is a neighborhood known for its youthful, underground cultures, and freedom of self-expression. Unique cafes, cozy galleries, accessory stores, fashion shops, live caf?s and clubs, art markets, and gourmet eateries make this a popular hang-out for locals in their 20s and 30s and a fascinating place to walk around to explore.
Dongdaemun Market is a large commercial district consisting of over 20 shopping malls and traditional markets, 30,000 shops, 50,000 manufacturers. All of this can be found within a few city blocks. The market is named after the nearby Heunginjimun Gate (Dongdaemun Gate). When opened in July, 1905, it was known as Baeugaejang. During the Korean War, the area was completely destroyed. In 1959, a new market building was constructed. Since then, the market has been slowly rebuilt and modernized to become what it is today.
